
Jarrett Wagner drove in six runs on three hits to lead Stratford past West Ashley 11-4 on Thursday night. He hit a grand slam to right field in the third inning, scoring four runs, and giving the Knights a 5-4 lead. Wagner would also double in the fourth inning, scoring two.
Stratford rallied for the victory despite trailing the Wildcats 4-0 in the third. The Knights flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 5-4.
Stratford Varsity Knights scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Mason Warne singled, scoring one run, Dom Longello laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run, Wagner doubled, scoring two runs, and a steal of home scored one run.
Wagner earned the win for Stratford. The righty allowed four hits and four runs (one earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out three and walking three. Brandon Cruz pitched two and two-thirds innings of zero-run ball for Stratford in relief. The southpaw gave up three hits, striking out one and walking none.
Stratford accumulated 10 hits in the game. Warne had two hits in three at bats. Ben DeFriece and Wagner each stole multiple bases for the Knights.
Stratford turns their attention to region play next week. The Knights take on Wando in a three game set.
