Baseball win

The Varsity baseball team went on the road Thursday night and came away with a win over Oceanside Collegiate Academy 6-1.

The Knights got on the board in the top of the first inning after Jarrett Wagner homered to right field. A series of walks and errors would push another run across when Lucas Kline walked, giving the Knights a 2-0 lead.

In the top of the third inning Stratford would add to the lead; picking up two more runs to go up 4-0.

Wagner earned the win for Stratford on the mound. The right-handed pitcher allowed four hits and one run over six and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking three. Dom Longello appeared in relief for Stratford to record the final out.

Ben DeFriece led Stratford with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The right fielder went 1-for-3 on the day. DeFriece, Wagner, and Jameson Lee each had a hit for the Knights. Stratford showed good plate discipline, amassing seven walks for the game. Jameson Lee and Kline led the team with two walks each. The Knights also stole five bases in the game.

Next up for Stratford is a game at Hanahan on Monday.
